Working in pastel since 1998, I have learned that pastel is a misunderstood and mysterious medium. I want to show the beauty and versatility of this very old medium. Pastel is an opaque medium, so I focus on working in layers of transparency to layers of opacity.
I enjoy painting the landscape. The way the light interacts with the landscape captures my attention. I want to take my viewer to a place of beauty, a place where he might wonder, “what lies beyond?” A place where the viewer can dream.
In 2000, Lisa took her paintings she and approached a local gallery for representation. “Getting in was great, but was this the direction that I was supposed to be moving in?” The greatest confirmation for Lisa was when Executive Director Charles Shepard III personally asked her to display her work in the Holy Calm of Nature exhibit at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in April – May 2005. In April of 2005, she was accepted by the Pastel Society of America as a Signature Member. And in 2012, Lisa won Artlink’s AVA award for Outstanding Painter.
